A guide to Bowls & Plates

  • Food-grade plastic, not silicone
  • No soapy aftertaste, wash after wash
  • Separate silicone suction base
  • Raised edge to scoop against
  • Dishwasher safe and BPA-free

Baby plates and bowls that don't taste of washing up liquid.

Most suction bowls are made from silicone — which absorbs odours and develops a soapy taste after repeated dishwasher cleaning. doddl's suction bowl uses food-grade plastic for the bowl itself, with a separate silicone suction base. The result is a bowl that stays taste-neutral wash after wash, and suction strong enough that parents describe it as near-impossible for a toddler to remove from the highchair tray.

Why non-silicone makes a difference

The raised edge on doddl plates is a deliberate design feature — not a styling choice. It gives babies and toddlers a surface to scoop food against, reducing spills and supporting the development of independent self-feeding. Every piece is dishwasher safe, BPA-free, and designed to work alongside doddl cutlery as part of a complete mealtime setup.

Suction that actually stays

Suction bowls only work if the suction holds. doddl's suction base creates a firm seal on smooth highchair trays and flat surfaces. Parents who've tried other suction bowls describe the difference immediately — it doesn't lift. From bowls and plates through to cutlery cases and travel sets, everything in this collection is built to make mealtimes easier.

Questions about bowls & plates

Why is doddl's suction bowl not silicone?

Most suction bowls are made from silicone, which absorbs odours and can develop a soapy taste after dishwasher cleaning. doddl's suction bowl is made from food-grade plastic with a separate silicone suction base — so the bowl itself stays taste-neutral wash after wash.

How strong is the suction on doddl bowls?

Strong enough to resist a determined toddler. The suction base creates a firm seal on highchair trays and flat surfaces. As with all suction products, it works best on smooth, flat surfaces — textured or raised surfaces reduce suction performance.

Are doddl plates and bowls dishwasher safe?

Yes — all doddl plates, bowls and accessories are dishwasher safe. Top rack recommended for suction components.

What is the raised edge on doddl plates for?

The raised edge is a deliberate design feature that helps babies and toddlers scoop food onto their cutlery without it falling off the plate. It supports the development of independent self-feeding by reducing spills and frustration.

Do doddl plates and bowls work with doddl cutlery?

Yes — the entire doddl mealtime range is designed to work together. The plate edges, bowl angles, and cutlery shapes are all optimised to work with each other at each developmental stage.
