Development benefits
  • Stable plate increases the success rate of loading cutlery - each success builds confidence
  • Unsectioned design avoids reinforcing food rigidity, supporting a more relaxed approach to varied diet
  • Visual anchor supports attention and focus during mealtimes
  • Appropriate step for children transitioning away from suction at their own pace
How it works

Non-slip base: Keeps the plate stable on smooth surfaces without suction — appropriate for children who are transitioning from a suction plate or who need stability without the suction mechanism.

Raised back and lower front: The ergonomic shape guides food toward the child's cutlery. Reduces the aim and precision needed to load a spoon or fork.

Unsectioned surface: No divided food zones. Supports children who benefit from food not being rigidly separated — avoids reinforcing food rigidity while still providing a clear, accessible eating space.

Central splat: A gentle visual cue to focus attention on the centre of the plate — supports children who find mealtimes distracting or overstimulating.

Product details

A stable, unsectioned plate designed to make eating from a plate achievable — without pressure, timelines or targets.

The doddl plate's non-slip base keeps it stable on any surface, removing the movement that can make plate-based eating so difficult for children with motor challenges or sensory differences. The ergonomic shape guides food naturally toward the child's utensils. Purposefully unsectioned — no rigid food zones to trigger sensory or food rigidity issues.

Why families supporting children with additional needs choose the doddl plate:

  • Non-slip base keeps the plate stable without suction — suitable for children ready to move beyond a suction plate
  • Raized back and lower front guide food onto utensils, reducing the precision required
  • Unsectioned — helping avoid food rigidity or sensory aversions to food touching if these challenges do not already exist
  • Central splat supports visual focus and attention during mealtimes
  • Recommended by pediatric occupational therapists

As a pediatric feeding therapist, the doddl toddler spoon, fork and knife set is one I recommend for 12 months and up. The stainless steel fork prongs help little ones poke food successfully, the ergonomic handles encourage a proper grip, and the spoon's tapered bowl suits little mouths while holding purees and soups.

“doddl cutlery is perfectly designed for a toddler’s hand and the short handle means it’s easier to control. But the best bit for me are the metal heads which make it easy for baby to scoop and fork food compared to chunky plastic heads which can be frustrating for young ones. One of my recommended weaning essentials!”
