Fun snack or breakfast for your toddler
This recipe is a fun snack or breakfast + craft combination activity that your toddler can help with! Try creating the pieces first and then help your little one to assemble! If you like, have a philosophical discussion about which came first - the chicken or the egg? Afterwards, practice using the doddl children's knife and fork to cut the egg into bite-sized pieces for eating!Ingredients
Hardboiled eggs
2 x baby carrots thinly sliced into rounds
1 x cup mixed greens, spinach, or other leaf lettuce (we used kale)
1 tsp olive oil
Chia seeds/coarsely ground pepper for the eyes.
How to make 'chicken or the egg?!'
Peel egg and slice with a paring knife from the top to the middle to insert the crowns.
Make a small slice on front for the beak.
Using the paring knife, cut the carrot rounds into pointed crowns. We used one of the cut-off slivers as a beak.
Use 2 pieces of coarsely ground pepper for eyes.
Mix greens with a teaspoon of olive oil plus salt and pepper to taste and make a “nest” in the middle of the plate.
Arrange the egg in the middle of the nest!
