Hot Cross Bun Porridge

With flavours of apple, cinnamon, raisins and orange, this is yummy, warming comfort food.

How delicious does this Hot Cross Bun Porridge look? An interesting twist on a traditional Easter recipe, these make a delicious breakfast any time of year.

Hot cross bun porridge recipe for doddl

Ingredients

-1/2 cup porridge oats

-3/4 cup milk of choice

-1 apple, grated

-2 tbsp raisins

-Zest of an orange

-Juice of an orange (approx 3 tbsp)

1/8 tsp cinnamon

For the cross

-Plain yoghurt

-A pinch of cinnamon

Method

-In a saucepan combine the oats, milk, grated apple, orange juice and zest, and cook on a medium heat for a couple of minutes, stirring frequently 

-Add the cinnamon and raisins, stirring to combine and cook for a further couple of minutes until the oats are soft

-To finish up, mix yoghurt with a pinch of cinnamon and either pop in a piping bag or a sandwich bag and snip the corner off, then squeeze a cross shape on top of your bowl of porridge.
